Ok, so I took an unannounced week and a half vacation from my blog. I am sure that none of you even noticed but, I have been feeling pretty guilty about it all week.
I have a good excuse for missing last Sunday's post. It was Oskar's 3rd birthday last weekend and any parent out there knows how all consuming a child's birthday party can be. Needless to say, there was no time to blog.
I have an even better excuse for missing my Wednesday post. I started a post for WTF on the whole Adam Lambert thing. I was a little behind and was anticipating having it out for Wednesday night but then we had a crazy person in our crawl space and those plans went off the rails.
I know what you are thinking. Hold up, a crazy person in your house???
Ok, maybe I should not say crazy person, that could be derogatory. A psychiatric patient from the local hospital escaped and, in an attempt to evade the police who were searching for him, he hunkered down in our cozy crawl space. Luckily he was not down there too long; I heard some noises and when my hubby got home from work, I sent him down to check things out.
Clearly, the man was not in his right mind (hence escape from psychiatric hospital) as he was naked and attempted to make a bed out of fiberglass insulation. He should consider himself lucky to have been discovered, if he had laid naked in that insulation all night, he would have been a wee bit uncomfortable in the morning.
Yes, I am trying to make light of the situation. The truth is, it really freaks me out that a strange man was in my home when I was alone with my two small children. I am sure you can understand, after that little incident, I was not in the right frame of mind to finish my post.
It wouldn't have been a crazy week if it did not end with a bang or rather, a shock. On Friday, while frantically trying to get the house cleaned before the sitter arrived, I electrocuted myself a little.
A little tip: don't touch the prong of the cell phone charger while plugging it into the wall with wet hands. Seems kinda simple but, I did it and I can tell you, it does not feel good. It was my first electrocution experience. It felt like someone had given me a sedative; my arm was numb and I actually had a hard time speaking afterwards.
Being electrocuted did not however, stop me from getting ready for and attending the big party. We had a great time doing things we never normally do. We danced too much, drank too much, and stayed out way too late but, it was worth it... I think.
My vocal chords may disagree. Speaking over loud music pushed them to the brink, they are now officially on strike. Trust me, having no voice does not lend well to mothering a boisterous 3 year-old-boy. When you can't shout: Don't and Stop and No, trouble definitely ensues.
So that was my week and my excuses for not blogging. I hope you thought they were good enough and don't judge me too harshly.
