Harassing Ellen for the Sake of Babies Everywhere!

Have I told you I freakin love Twitter! Sorry to be repetitive but I do. For Moms especially, Twitter is a very good thing. If you haven't joined yet, get on it!

Did you know there is a huge cloth diapering community on Twitter full of way cool Mommies? Well there is and one of the coolest Moms out there (other than myself of course) is @KimRosas writer of the blog Dirty Diaper Laundry.

She had this brilliant idea to try and get cloth diapers featured on the Ellen Show so they could be showcased to a wider audience. As part of her Cloth Diaper Carnival VI she is asking fellow bloggers and cloth diaper users to write a letter to Ellen explaining why they use cloth diapers and why she should have cloth diapers on her show.

I was all over this because I love cloth diapers and I love to try and pimp them out to anyone I possibly can. This is my letter to Ellen... I hope she likes it!

BTW - Are you a cloth diaper user and blogger who would like to help us in Operation Fluffy? Please follow the link to find out more about Cloth Diaper Carnival VI.

Dear Ellen,

I am not going to bore you with more stats and figures or go on and on about how cloth diapers are better for the environment than disposables. All that stuff is a no brainer; cloth diapers are the best option for the planet and for every baby. Rather than reiterate all that, I am going to try and appeal to the more superficial sensibilities we all have.

I am the first to admit, I can be a bit shallow; I like nice things and even though I am a mother of two little boys, I like to look put together. I never leave the house without my hair done (at least a sleek, high pony) and make-up on (at the minimum, mascara, blush and bronzer). I love clothes, I love to shop, I love fashion and I drool over my favourite designers in Vogue more often than I care to admit.

I don’t think anyone who met me would assume I am a Crunchy Mama, which is why people are usually surprised to learn that I have been using cloth diapers for the last 3.5 years. I would like to say it’s because I am a Green Goddess who crusades for Mother Earth, but that would be a bit of a stretch (though I do care about the planet and try to go green whenever I can).

The truth is, I like the pretty (hello Robert Pattinson - ooops digression sorry) and I like the cute and I want to dress my boys in the coolest/trendiest things I can possibly afford (I already admitted to the shallowness above ok).

For me, cloth diapers are the coolest diaper option I can put on my boy’s little bums! Forget scratchy, white disposables; I want blue and green and orange and leopard print and skull n cross bones and every other funky pattern you can possibly imagine. What can I say, I just love the hip, trendy, fluffy baby butt!

I know how many Mothers out there watch your show everyday and I am sure they want to be on the cutting edge of baby fashion so, please do them a service and show them what modern cloth diapers look like so they can jump on the bandwagon!

Plus, if you have cloth diapers on your show then maybe Marc Jacobs will see them and he will design a gorgeous cloth diaper and a matching shoulder bag and then… oh wait I am digressing again sorry. But a girl can dream right?

I like your letter and hope you get somewhere with Ellen!

At the very least, know you've convinced Ken and myself who are already getting excited by cloth diapers arriving in the mail. There's so many colours to pick from, and we've only bought one brand so far!
