A Mish Mash and Prep for a Bash

I have been busy all week getting ready for my Husband's big 30th Birthday Party. It's not a surprise party, he gave me specific instructions no surprises were allowed and I, for once, listened to him and obliged.

I love planning parties and tend to go a little over board so, I tried very hard not to go too out of control this time. I kept the guest list reasonably small, we have a compact home (ok, its small as shit but compact just sounds more quaint) so I trimmed the fat so to speak and luckily, my husband is naturally a snob so he had no problem with my final list of invitees. We may be a little squeezed but, I know this house can handle it (if you went to high school with me, you know how I know that).

I have spent the week buzzing around getting food, drinks, booze, decorations, renting glassware and ordering the cake (that's weird... I don't think I have ever said booze before). Tomorrow, I will have to work my ass off and get everything ready to go for 7pm when the whole thing will be going down. All I can say is... my Hubby better have a good time and he better appreciate all the work I have put into this thing.

I know he said no surprises but, I do have a few little things up my sleeve. I have decided that a small amount of embarrassing and slightly immature fun is in order. How can I allow him to kiss his 20s goodbye without experiencing a few more crazy ass moments right? Plus, I have to exploit this prime opportunity for all it's worth. I need pictorial evidence people; when we are old and shriveled I am going to need those photos to look back on so I can remember when I could stay up past midnight and eat, drink and dance the night away.

The only thing I have left to figure out is what I am going to wear. I have been mulling it over trying to decide between this cute little black dress or going more casual in skinny jeans and a blouse.  If I go casual, I will put Hubby in his designer jeans and this new DKNY shirt I got him and if I go with the dress, I will make him wear black dress pants with a white french cuffed shirt and a skinny black tie. It is hard to decide... any thoughts people?

Ultimately, I guess it does not matter what I wear... let's face it the night is not about me (I can let someone else take center stage I swear to god I can) and at a certain point, not that I want to give anything away, I doubt Hubby will still be wearing the clothes he started the night in. Yes, I am an evil, evil woman ;).

I joked earlier this week with someone on Facebook Chat that the party was themed after a gangsta rap song. They actually believed me, it was very funny. Seriously, I don't listen to gangsta rap, hip hop yes, but not the hardcore stuff. But, that little joke did give me an idea. I pulled out my iPod and found a song that I thought was very fitting. The theme of the party is Whatever He Likes after the Anya Marina cover of the T.I. song Whatever You Like. Have a listen and please don't take ALL the lyrics literally people... I am a mother and we're not getting that freaky.
